Notes

No matter what the liner notes state, this is not a complete edition of the Berlin concert. Only one of the trio numbers with just the rhythm section is included, also omitted are "Thank You (Dziekuje)" and the quintet performance of "Circadian Disrhythmia." I have long had a recording of the complete concert, the contents (in its original order) can be found at this link: http://db.etree.org/lookup_show.php?shows_key=437405

This is not an album, but a compilation. Three songs from the Berlin 1972 concert was issued on the Atlantic album We're All Together Again For the First Time, while ten additional tracks from that concert were added. The music is not in the order in which it was recorded and some of it has been faded out.

Also, this 2015 set is not the first release of the tracks as heard in this package. An earlier version was issued on Jazz Row.

Some of the music in this compilation has been previously issued. Disc 2: tracks 1, 2 and 3 were on the Atlantic LP We're All Together Again For The First Time. Disc 2, tracks 5 through 11 appeared on the Scotti Bros. CD Jazz Fest Masters: Mulligan Desmond Belleto.

Discussion about Gerry Mulligan, Paul Desmond, The Dave Brubeck Trio - The Complete 1972 Berlin Concert

There are several issues with this release. The songs are not in the order they were performed, as there are abrupt edits between some tracks. Also the trio selections minus Mulligan and Desmond are omitted. I know because I have CDRs with the complete broadcast of the 1972 Berlin concert. As for the material being previously unissued, several tracks appeared on the Atlantic LP (and subsequent reissues) We're All Together Again For the First Time.
