Discussion about Vincent Dionne - Parade
Owomed
As co-founder of the short-lived Quebec cosmic electronic Prog Dionne-Bregent (with Michel-Georges Bregent), that duo's two albums ("Et le Troisième Jour" and "Deux") blazed a trail in Quebec's progressive electronic music scene, with a sound not unlike Tangerine Dream, early Pink Floyd, Mike Oldfield, and Terry Riley. Following the duo's breakup, Vincent Dionne moved on to compose for cinema, ballet and theater and recorded on some excellent collaborations (McGill Percussion Ensemble, Repercussion, Nosso Nosso, Destinations) before finally returning the the studio to record a couple of exceptional solo albums. For "Parade", his first true solo effort (privately issued), Vincent Dionne assembled a solid group of supporting musicians that include Michel Dubeau (sax), Nebu bassist Claude Simard (acoustic & electric bass), former percussionist with the Quatuor de Jazz libre du Québec and l'Infonie Guy Thouin (tabla), Daniel Zanella (percussion), Jean-Pierre Limoge (keyboards, strings) and some nice vocal effects courtesy of former Harmonium & Octobre chorist Monique Fauteux.Superb sequencer-driven electronic music, symphonic jazz, progressive new age
